James Finn

Senior Consultant

BA, MSc, MBA

James is a Senior Consultant with Crelos and works on major development and change projects for his clients especially in the arena of employee engagement. He helps build engagement models for organisational leaders who want to work out how to manage the talent they have and to consider how to manage them through a period of change.

James relishes the time and headspace afforded by the consulting approach that Crelos adopts. James is committed to finding the most workable, pragmatic and yet creative answer to a client talent challenge. He also believes in truly partnering with the client, sharing and transferring knowledge to ensure sustainability of the solution once the assignment is complete.

James recognises that the exposure that he has as a consultant on different projects, with different client challenges and across different sectors, enables him to see the links between organisations and their issues, and accesses this to design and build more insightful interventions for other organisations.

Project experience

James' portfolio of experience includes a number of prestigious businesses. Each one operates in highly competitive markets and has their own specific needs. Specifically, James has:

  • Designed business simulations for clients including O2, Alfred McAlpine and HSBC
  • Researched the 'academy' proposition following the success of academies within O2 considering the success factors and extrapolating this to other industries
  • Identified major themes that were affecting employees within ARM and facilitated sessions to identify appropriate courses of action
  • Worked with Xerox on rolling out their TalkBack process which helped to engage employees in strategic issues and meet requirements of the Inform and Consult directive

Previous experience

James worked for Arthur Andersen's in a change management role and after three years went to work in Further Education helping small businesses and the call centre sector embrace e-learning and ICTs to build employee capabilities. He has also worked with the automotive sector on the adoption of an electronic collaboration platform. Whilst in his roles he has seen the implementation of the latest technologies and thinking as well as the importance of how leaders and employees engage with organisational change.

His experiences bring skills to the organisation such as the know how on building skills, competencies and behavioural change, being more creative with recruitment, linking the individual with the group's motivational qualities and how matching that against the real world equips a business to compete more successfully.
